"Trade of Innocents"
Trade of Innocents is a 2012 American made thriller independent film written and directed by Christopher Bessette. This movie was
shot on location in Bangkok, Thailand. This movie shows us the problem about human trafficking, especially prostitution. The main
character Alex who is a human trafficking investigator, went to Southeast Asia with his wife and some of his colleague to investigate the
human trafficking. In there, he saw many young girls who got sold or be kidnapped by trafficker. Most of them were sold for money.
Their family was really poor. So they couldn't pay back their debt. They didn't have any choices except selling their daughter. The girls
were taken to filthy block room and just waited for men who want to use their body. Alex and his wife also lost their lovely daughter by
kidnapper. So they try to resolve this huge serious problem in there. Finally, they caught the trafficker and they rescued little young girls
in there. This movie has a happy ending but I still feel uncomfortableness. Because of the police officer. In this movie, most police officers
were related to the trafficker. They received money by the trafficker and overlooked their offense. This fact makes me angry. This is not a
perfect happy ending. Also, this is not a problem of someone else. This is our problem. We have to consider the human trafficking and
find solutions of this. First, we share our information with our family and friends and tell this other people who don't know about human
trafficking. Second, the government should legislate for human trafficking more strictly especially about demand. Third, the society
should help the people who are related with this problem. For example, job training and educational class. Finally, I think national
helping is also good for this problem. Some people don't like that is caused by their culture. They think like how the foreigners
understand their culture deeply, but whether the culture is totally different or not, human trafficking is serious problem. We have to try
to resolve this problem. I mean it has nothing to do with understanding culture. That is not important thing. If we leave this situation as
it is, it may happen again and again in next generation. Do you want to that happens to your children? We have to consider the answer
of this question.
